Allah Ta'ala says:
"It is He who sent to a people who Ummi (illiterate) a messenger between them, who read the verses to them, purify them and teach them the Book and Wisdom (the Sunnah)." (Qur'an -Jumuah: 2)
and Allah Ta'ala says:
"You guys are the best people ever born to people, you sent to the ma'ruf, and prevent it from being evil." (Surah Alu Imran: 110)
From Uqbah ibn Amir Abu Mas'ud Al-Ansari-he-radhiallahu anhu said: The Messenger, sallallaahu alaihi wasallam-said:
"Whoever guides to good will he get a reward like the reward people who do it." (Narrated by Muslim, no. 1893)
From Abu Hurairah-radhiallahu anhu that the Messenger, sallallaahu-alaihi-wasallam said:
"Whoever invites to the guidance he get the reward like the reward the people who follow him, but without prejudice to the slightest of their rewards. Whoever invites to the error so he get sin like a prayer of people who follow him, but without prejudice to the least of their sins. "(Narrated by Muslim, no. 2674)
From Abu Al-Bahili Umaamah-radhiallahu anhu, he said: The Messenger, sallallaahu alaihi wasallam, said:
"Verily,
Bershalawat meaning it is pray and ask for forgiveness for him.
Brief explanation:
The scholars are the inheritors of the prophets, and besides they inherit their knowledge, they also inherit their task of preaching and invite the people towards good and prevent them from kemungkaran. Therefore they (the clergy) is the best man in every age when they inherit the best man duties as well, namely the prophets.
In verse sura Al-Jumuah above mentioned four tasks of the prophet who is also the duty of the scholars: Reading the Signs of Allah to mankind, purify them, teach them the Book and Sunnah teach them. This is their job, so he who taught man by other than the four case is then indeed he has strayed from the real task. And certainly those who invite people to this case besides the four he has invited them to the error and he will get the sin of all those who have him led astray until doomsday.
Conversely people who run this task, the fourth he's really been invited to guide and he will get the reward all those who follow him until doomsday. Even not only that, he will also receive forgiveness from God Almighty and will be prayed and sought forgiveness by all the inhabitants of heaven and earth, ranging from ants in the soil until the angels who are above the heavens.
